Well, hi, guys! Some of you know me already, and others are looking at their screen going “Who in the world is this random person?” Don’t worry, I belong here. I didn’t hijack the blog.
My name is Amy Johnson, and I just recently joined Damien Hanson Books! Damien and I have been reading and reviewing books together for some time, but we figured it was about time to join efforts in hopes of mutual growth. To start things off, I just wanted to tell you a bit about myself so that you can put a face to my rantings.
First and foremost, I’m a mom. I like to say that I was born to be an author, but truth is, I just thought that was so. Until he was born. He’s a dino-loving, probably ADHD, fruit snack fueled TERROR right now (aren’t all three year olds nightmares, though?).
Some quick-fire facts about me– I’m from a really small town in the state of Tennessee, right down in the heart of the southern USA. I’ve always been here; I’ll probably be here until I die. I’m convinced that it’s the most beautiful place on Earth and no one could change my mind. I’m a teacher by day to ten-year-olds, which makes me fluent in sarcasm and snide comments. I have a TikTok addiction and can quote so many Vines that it’s embarrassing.
When I’m not chasing children or trying to keep my laundry under wraps, I’m reading. It’s a means of escape from the monotony of everyday life. I read and review a variety of genres, from romance to poetry to thrillers. I like it all! My goal is to provide entertaining, in-depth reviews for both authors and readers. That means I not only focus on the surface-level content but also the craft and structure that the author themselves could improve on. I’m not an expert, by any means, but it’s fun!
And what am I doing when I’m not scrolling through TikTok or reading? Probably writing! As of right now, I have one self-published book available on Amazon (which you can find in our catalog) and another will be published on July 6th. I mainly stick to YA dystopia and post-apocalyptic fiction, just because that’s what I really am familiar and comfortable with. I dabble in Urban Fantasy, but nothing too serious is in the works there. My goal is to be able to publish some serials on the blog here, so look for those!
